25 Years of Middle Earth Adventures
I love Peter Jackson's Lord of the Rings trilogy, it is a cinematic masterpiece that will never happen again, It is the last big cinematic event before cinema became dumbed down, homogenised and throwaway (my own opinion). It was lightning in a bottle, the right cast, director and studio bought us something magical, something that when I saw it in the cinema I felt like a child experiencing cinema for the first time ever. It was epic.
I watched Fellowship of the Ring in the cinema three times in one week! each time with different people. I have since watched the trilogy at least once a year since release, and I have now watched it with my kids who loved it (but not to the same extent). it's a generational thing.
I decided last year to honour this anniversary with a trilogy of posters, and this is the first. I wanted to do something epic to reflect the scale of the movies, so the poster took me three months to complete, but I wanted to really take my time and enjoy the process. Because I am a commercial artist by trade, sometimes feel I don't get the time I want to craft something, and sometimes I feel like I am just creating content which feels throwaway and so impermanent.
Here is my love letter to Peter Jackson's Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the ring my first instalment in my trilogy of posters to pay tribute to a pop culture phenomenon.
